Dear Mrs Johns,

The advertisement for an Network Architect on 11 February was particularly appealing. I am currently a solutions architect for XYZ pty. ltd. and this opportunity seems to be a natural extension of that experience.

My previous experience includes 10 years of data communications that includes roles in both network support as well as design. These roles have been primarily Cisco technologies, however, I have also had exposure to Juniper and Alcatel hardware and have become familiar with both vendor operating systems.

The businesses that I have supported throughout my career vary in size between 1,000 and 25,000 staff. Network sizes were proportionately scaled to the number of staff and have included complex WANs with over 150 remote locations.

Most recently, I was involved with a data center re-design that incorporated Juniper firewalls, Cisco Nexus switches and Cisco ASR routers. The design included MPLS, vrfs, MBGP, OSPF and DMVPN. It provided the business with a second fully functional data center that load balances critical applications but can also stand autonomously if required.

For these reasons, I think that the role you offer is well suited to my skills and experience. It is a career path that I am enthusiastic about and am naturally inclined towards.
